Bob Ross has timeless advice to help you today!
“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” – Bob Ross
Bob Ross’ would agree that happy little accidents happen to us all, they make us better! We learn from these happy little accidents and then grow from that experience! Is the glass half full, or half empty? It depends on your perspective. The glass is both half full and half empty, but your perspective decides whether you see the positive or the negative. If you make every experience a positive one, then you will prosper and thrive in your happiness and personal growth.
“Talent is a pursued interest. Anything that you’re willing to practice, you can do.” – Bob Ross
One of my best friends just recently graduated from one of the most prestigious art schools in the world–MICA. He is one of the most dedicated people I know. Someone may look at his artwork and say that he is talented. But I know him, I know his history. I know that talent is the wrong word. The correct explanation is his hard work and practice!
Here is a sample of his work:
When Yusef was younger, he used to draw all of the time. His drawings started out like you’d expect from a young inexperienced artist. He wasn’t the best, you would never have thought that he would become a graduate of the most prestigious art institutes. But he knew what he was passionate about and he didn’t let anything else distract him. He honed in on what he truly wanted in life and forged his identity through countless “happy little accidents”.
“I guess I’m a little weird. I like to talk to trees and animals. That’s okay though; I have more fun than most people.” – Bob Ross
Don’t be afraid to be different. You should be proud and brave, you are unique, you are alive, you have worth and value no matter what you do or who you are! If you have a passion, you should pursue it. If you’re struggling with negative thoughts or harmful behavior, then make a conscious effort to change. Nobody can change you for you, but you. And nobody should be expected to change for you, nor you for them. Exist, co-exist, and love the experience.
“I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being able to express yourself to others through painting. Exercising the imagination, experimenting with talents, being creative; these things, to me, are truly the windows to your soul.” – Bob Ross
I think that everyone can benefit from practicing some form of art, but this quote can expand to any aspect of our lives. Being creative, daring to try something new, these are great experiences that we should encourage ourselves to try.
“The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe.” – Bob Ross
Ultimately, you are your own worse enemy at times. Our thoughts, our words, our beliefs, they shape up and create the environment around us. If you realize that your beliefs are fluid, they can change, then change them for the better. Believe in yourself first, then pursue your goals, and you will have more abundance than any material can provide. You will have found a true purpose for yourself and the confidence to inspire others. Make the world a better place by believing in and loving yourself.
